My Duty

Midnight falls once again and I feel my duty to pray.
"Now I lay myself to sleep, I pray to the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray to the Lord my soul to take."
I bow my head and close my eyes and list blessings on the people of my life.
I try to remember them all, every last one of them,
and maybe someone will actually hear my call.
Morning falls once again and I feel my duty to pray.
"Thank you Lord for this lovely day,
thank you Lord for waking me up today."
I bow my head and close my eyes and list blessing on the day.
I step outside and its all has been forgotten,
The bus is late, I forget my homework,
some kid stepped on my shoe, my essay wont print,
I'm locked out of my room.
Midnight falls once again and I feel my duty to pray.
